STC Youth Track & Field Invitational Information

A Celebration of Speed, Confidence, and Community

Events Offered

Athletes will have the opportunity to participate in a mix of running and field events, emphasizing fundamentals and fun. Only full-program participants will be able to compete at the Invitational. Participants must attend at least 1 practice to compete in the Invitational.

Track Events

  • 50 meters

  • 100 meters

  • 400 meters

  • 800 meters

  • 1 mile

Field Events

  • Long Jump

  • High Jump

  • Shot Put (age-appropriate implements)

Event participation will be structured to ensure athletes have time to rest, stay engaged, and enjoy the day.

Age Groups

To keep competition fair and enjoyable, athletes will compete within the following age groups:

  • Grades K–1

  • Grades 2–3

  • Grades 4–6

During summer months, age groups will be based on the grade that was recently completed. Events will be scheduled by age group to maintain a smooth flow throughout the meet.

Relays & Special Races

The Invitational will also feature team-based and special events designed to build excitement and community:

  • Mixed-age relay races, with teams thoughtfully assembled based on practice seed times to encourage competitive fun

  • “Fastest Kid in Solon” races, showcasing top performances in each age group

  • And we’re hoping to arrange a Mascot Race, featuring representatives from:

    • Parkside Elementary

    • Roxbury Elementary

    • Lewis Elementary

    • Orchard Middle School

These events add energy, laughter, and school pride to the day.

Awards & Recognition

Every athlete deserves to feel proud of their effort.

  • All participants will receive a medal

  • Top 3 finishers in each event and age group will receive trophies

  • Fastest Kid in Solon awards will be presented for each age group

Awards are designed to recognize achievement while reinforcing that improvement and participation matter most.

Invitational Experience

We want the Invitational to feel like a community celebration—not just a competition.

Expect:

  • Music throughout the meet

  • An announcer calling events, results, and celebrating athletes

  • Family-friendly atmosphere

  • Clearly organized events and schedules

  • Support from experienced coaches and volunteers

Parents, siblings, and friends are encouraged to cheer, support, and enjoy the day together.

Community & Purpose

Solon Track Club operates with a community-first mindset. Any proceeds beyond basic program expenses support future programming and benefit local charities.

The Invitational reflects everything STC stands for: confidence, connection, and a love of movement.
