About Solon Track Club
Solon Track Club was created to bring people together through movement, community, and a shared love of track and field.
We believe track is one of the most accessible and impactful sports—teaching confidence, discipline, teamwork, and lifelong fitness. Our goal is to make those benefits available to athletes of all ages in Solon and surrounding areas, starting with youth and growing into a true community tradition.
Our Story
Solon Track Club was founded by Solon residents Mike and Sarah Inge with a simple idea: give kids and adults in our community and surrounding area positive, fun, and well-organized access to track and field—something that Mike had as a child with the Speed City Track Club in Elyria, Ohio.
Mike is a former Division I track athlete, two-time All-American, and Olympic Trials qualifier. Track and field played a defining role in his life, and STC was created as a way to give back to the sport and the Solon community.
Coaching Partnership & the Solon Track Pipeline
Solon Track Club is proud to work directly with Dan Iwan and Brian Sabol, the boys’ and girls’ head track and field coaches at Solon High School, to deliver a high-quality, development-focused experience for young athletes in our community.
Their involvement helps ensure that our programming is grounded in sound fundamentals, age-appropriate instruction, and proven coaching philosophies that align with Solon’s high school track and field programs. We also benefit from support from members of their coaching staffs and current Solon High School athletes, strengthening the connection between youth participants and the broader Solon track community.
This partnership allows Solon Track Club to serve as an early, positive introduction to the sport—giving kids exposure to strong coaching, proper movement skills, and the excitement of track and field well before middle school. Our goal is not early specialization, but building confidence, foundational skills, and a genuine love for the sport that naturally supports Solon’s track pipeline over time.
What We Do
Solon Track Club offers seasonal programs and events designed to be:
Inclusive — welcoming athletes of all backgrounds and ability levels
Development-focused — prioritizing fundamentals, confidence, and enjoyment
Community-driven — supported by Solon High School coaches, volunteers, and families
Fun and memorable — with music, relays, special events, and celebrations
Our flagship program is a summer youth track experience for children in grades K–6, featuring multiple practice sessions and a culminating community track meet.
Our Mission
To inspire athletes of all ages in Solon to discover the joy, confidence, and lifelong benefits of track and field through inclusive, safe, and community-centered instruction and competition.
Our Vision
Our vision is to build a lasting Solon tradition centered around track and field—connecting children, families, and adult athletes through youth programs, all-comers meets, and road races. Over time, we aim to transition Solon Track Club into a nonprofit organization that strengthens Solon’s athletic pipeline, promotes lifelong fitness, and donates proceeds to local charities that serve our community.
Community First
Solon Track Club is intentionally designed to operate with low overhead and strong volunteer involvement. We partner with Solon High School coaches, high school athletes, and families to create meaningful experiences while keeping the focus where it belongs—on the athletes and the community.
Any net proceeds from our programs solely benefit local charities, reinforcing our belief that when the community comes together to move, everyone wins.
Looking Ahead
While our roots are in youth programming, our long-term goal is to grow Solon Track Club into a community hub for track and field—hosting all-comers meets, road races, family events, and opportunities for athletes of all ages to stay active, connected, and inspired.
Whether you’re a parent, coach, athlete, volunteer, or supporter, we’re glad you’re here.
